Welcome to Part 5 of our Soccer Training at Home series! In this installment, we’ll focus on ball striking techniques to elevate your game. Led by talented athletes Sophie Quastel and Camryn Walker, this session will guide you through essential drills designed to improve your striking skills.
Ball Striking Routine
- Volleys with Laces To start, let’s practice volleys using your laces. This technique is fundamental for striking the ball cleanly while maintaining power and accuracy. Aim to connect with the ball at its highest point for optimal results.
- Volleys with Inside Foot Next, we’ll shift our focus to volleys using the inside of your foot. This method allows for greater control and precision, making it easier to place the ball where you want it to go.
- Balance - Strike with Laces Afterward, it’s time to work on your balance while striking with your laces. Find a stable position and ensure you maintain your composure as you strike the ball. This will help you develop power without sacrificing control.
- Balance - Strike with Inside Foot Now, let’s move on to striking with the inside of your foot while maintaining your balance. This drill emphasizes technique, so focus on your foot placement and follow through to achieve accuracy.
- Shuffles and Volley Following this, incorporate shuffles into your training. Shuffle laterally and then volley the ball. This movement not only improves your agility but also helps you adapt to dynamic game situations where quick footwork is essential.
- Shuffle and Header Finally, finish the routine with a shuffle followed by a header. This drill enhances your ability to make quick decisions under pressure, while also refining your heading technique.
