Soccer Training at Home – Intermediate Ball Mastery Skills
 
Welcome to Part 9 of our Soccer Training at Home series! In this session, we will focus on ball mastery, a fundamental skill that every soccer player needs to develop. Athlete Briththeka Ingaramoorthy will guide you through a series of engaging drills designed to improve your dribbling skills. So, let’s dive in and master this routine together!

Ball Mastery Drills

  1. Push, Stop To start, we will begin with the “Push, Stop” drill. In this exercise, focus on pushing the ball away from you, then quickly stopping it with your foot. This drill helps you develop control over the ball, which is crucial for effective dribbling.
  2. Push, Stop, Push, Stop Building on the first drill, we’ll now incorporate a second push after the stop. As you push the ball, then stop it again, you’ll enhance your touch and improve your ability to control the ball in tight spaces. Remember to stay light on your feet as you perform this drill.
  3. Push, Stop, Roll, Touch Next, we will add more complexity with the “Push, Stop, Roll, Touch” drill. After pushing and stopping the ball, roll it with the sole of your foot and then touch it in a new direction. This sequence will help you improve your agility and ball control, allowing you to change direction quickly.
  4. Triple Tik Tok Shuffles Now, let’s transition into the “Triple Tik Tok Shuffles.” This drill involves quickly shuffling your feet while performing Tik Tok touches with the ball. This exercise is excellent for enhancing your footwork and helps you become more comfortable with the ball at your feet.
  5. Tik Toks (x4) and Roll Following the shuffles, we’ll perform Tik Toks for four counts, then finish with a roll. Focus on using the inside and outside of your foot as you execute the Tik Toks. This drill not only improves your ball manipulation but also builds your confidence in changing directions.
  6. Sweeping Shuffles Next, we will move into “Sweeping Shuffles.” In this drill, practice shuffling the ball from side to side while maintaining control. This exercise helps you develop lateral movement skills, which are essential for navigating the field during a game.
  7. Crossovers After the shuffles, we’ll dive into crossovers. This drill involves using both feet to cross the ball over your body as you move forward. By practicing crossovers, you’ll enhance your ability to evade defenders while maintaining ball control.
  8. Figure 8 Routine Finally, we’ll conclude with the “Figure 8 Routine.” In this drill, you will maneuver the ball in a figure-eight pattern around two cones. This exercise challenges your footwork and encourages you to maintain control while changing directions quickly.
